Mike Austin is a freelance medical illustrator and a member of the Association of Medical Illustrators with experience in many areas of medicine and art media.His background includes a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Master of Fine Arts in Medical and Biological Illustration from the University of Michigan. After graduation, Mike interned with another medical illustrator in Salt Lake City, Utah.

He then moved to Phoenix, AZ where he took a job as a staff medical illustrator for the Arizona Heart Institute. His duties included illustration for print, medical videos, presentations, and medical posters.

In 1997, after working for two and a half years with the Arizona Heart Institute, Mike became a freelance illustrator. His experience includes the following: advertisements for medical and dental products, anatomical and surgical illustrations for books and journals, medical legal exhibits, medical posters for presentations, patient education videos and brochures, and PowerPoint presentations.
